Hi folks,

Always had windows custom pcs and most recently laptops. Looking ot invest in a new laptop and as everyone keeps banging on about MBP's etc i thought id look into one.

At the moment i have an acer 7720G with 4GB ram, Core 2 duo T5750 and a 17" screen.

What sort of macbook should i look into? I mainly use it for browsing the web, watching HD programs that have been downloaded, listening to music and the occasional photoshop for editing photos.

Also where is the best/cheapest place to purchase a mac?

Cheers

The 17" MBP will be pricey, but will be your closest replacement if you want to keep the screen size.

Most places sell the hardware at close to, or the same as the Apple store so I'd go direct to Apple and get it. Personally, I'd save the money and get a 15" MBP with a few upgrades, unless you REALLY want to go for the extra 17".

As said above, I would go for the 15" if you don't need the extra screen space of the 17", but you dont really need any upgrades on it. But I would wait until the new MBP's come out in the next week or so before making a decision on it.

Again as said above, the MBP's are typically the same price anywhere you go, so I would also go to apple directly. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative and not bothered about the latest and greatest then check out the apple referb store, all of the laptops come as brand new pretty much, the only difference is that they come in a brown box instead of the pretty retail box.
