Hey all,
Recently I've been having problems with seriously laggy programs (sometimes to the point of crashing), slow program running and poor boot-up times. Admittedly, while I am using a greater number of more demanding programs, I probably could help the situation by giving my PC a bit of a clear out, perhaps even a complete re-format *gasps*.
Whatever the case though, I'm pretty sure my PC's spec is lacking in the memory department. We're looking at:
Opteron 165 Dual Core @ 2250mhz
2*512mb Patriot PC3200 2-3-2-5
Radeon X800 XT PE 256mb
Now what I'd ask of you is - how do you think I should go about this? I'm pretty strapped for cash at the mo, so would I be able to get another 2*512 kit of the same timings and keep the overclock the same, or will I encounter speed problems there?
And if not, how pricey are 2*1gb kits to completely replace my current ram? I'd imagine PC3200 is getting pretty old these days, so I might be able to grab a bargain?
oh and also, anyone know of any particularly good 'pc-cleaing' apps out there, or is it just using uninstalling programs?
any help greatly appreciated
thanks,
peter
