Considering a new monitor

Hi guys,

I'm currently debating whether or not to upgrade my monitor - could do with a bit of help narrowing down my choices!

I've currently got a Dell U2412M - it's been great but I've moved away from professional work and it's just being used for gaming. I've got a 4790k and a 980 so I should be fine powering something bigger.

I've been considering the Dell S2716DG as it'll give me a bigger screen, 1440p and g-sync but it's a TN panel and I'm used to the lovely colours of an IPS so I'm not sure how I'll take to it.

The other options seem to be Acer or Asus but I've read a lot about QC issues with them which is what drew me towards the Dell.

Any other suggestions? Budget <£600, the lower the better :D

That looks great at that price, looking for a monitor myself and although I'd love gsync I find it hard to justify £600 upwards on one especially with all the qc issues. How is the response time on this dell? I can't stand smearing when gaming

Hmmm... That's a heck of a lot cheaper than the gsync model! I know gsync is good but can't see it being worth £200?!

Even better value is the U2515H - £250 for 1440P IPS goodness. Sharper than the 27" as it's the same reason on a smaller panel - love mine, best purchase in ages.

It's great no smearing at all. I love mine, no complaints. Max games out with v sync on and it's lovely.

I think I'd prefer 27" though, had dual 24" when I was working on them and I miss the huge amount of screen filling my vision :D

Whatever you decide, keep your old monitor and use it in portrait mode for browsing OCUK.

Can't, need to sell the current one to fund the new one!

One more query on the U2715H - does it matter that it's only 60hz as opposed to 144hz Gsync on the S2716DG?

I'll just have to weigh up £ against how good GSync is. I keep hearing good things and I'm very tempted by the S27 but £600 is a lot of money
