Considering a Q9550

Hi All,


I am thinking of getting a Q9550 as the price seems to have come down nicely.

Currently I have a E8600 which can clock upto around 4.5. Part of me is thinking quad would be a great upgrade but the other part of me is thinking that it wont clock as high so for gaming I am actually going backwards in performance.

Anyone that can give me some advice on what kind of clocks to expect and if it is a sensible upgrade please let me know.

Basically any info would be great.

Depends. Applications such as GTA IV and Far Cry 2 both utilise Quad's I believe. However, if the majority of apps you currently use can't utilise, you might as well wait, til other solutions appear.

Yeah, wait, the e8600 will be better than q9550 in most games.

I would keep the E8600, especially @ 4.5GHz.
