Hi guys -

I have a pair of Technics MK2 decks + about 200 trance/hard house vinyl. I am considering ditching it and picking up a pair of CD Decks. I haven't used my decks for ages cause I have no where to put them since decorating my room - they are so big and heavy and take up so much room.

I wanna get back into mixing again and it seemst hat everyone is going CD now .

I am looking at hard to find records.com - I don't know what I would need?

There is PIONEER CDJ 200 pair @ £700 - and then there is the CDJ 1000 Mk3's at 1500 quid. Do I need the MK3's? What are the differences between the two?

I don't know if I could justify spending 1500 quid on them when I only would use them at home for my own personal enjoyment.

Also - would anyone be able to put a value on what I could get for my Sl1200 mk2's and the 200+ trance/hardhouse vinyl?

Recomendations welcome - thanks

I'd advise against selling the Technics, unless they were to me, for £50....

Seriously, if you can get Pioneer CDJ1000mk2's, they the same as MK3's but dont have MP3 playback, which frankly, is pointless. They're also cheaper.

Ebay, and some Equipment shops are your friends. :D

what about the cdj800mk2? vinyl emulation like the 1000 and mp3 playback

£1000 for the pair, not too much more than a pair of 200's

keep your decks or at least one anyway (imo of course)

Id say 300 for the pair of technics.

If it were me though, i would keep one deck. You never know when you might feel like trashing some old record on.

Cant say much about the CDJ's though, not my scene. Vinyl *** :)

Definately go for CDJs, these days they are the norm.

Some 1000s would be best choice

LMFAO!

that's all.

Actually no, vinyl is best but I'm old and stuck in my ways and have never owned cd decks.

Explain to me the differences between Serato and Final Scratch? Are they fundamentally the same or are there major differences?

i dont know the difference but i seriously think its your best choice here, keep all your current tunes and play as normal then just whack on the time-code vinyl and drag/drop your tunes into serato and off you go

and still the sweet sweet feel of vinyl

200's are a perfect starting point if moving to cds imo.

You might not really get back into mixing, and this would mean a smaller outlay to recoup. :)

Personally i would buy cdj800 mkII's. The difference in features between them and the cdj 1000 is minimal and changing from 800's in the home to 1000's in the club is no problem. Heres a guide

Pioneer cdj's hold their value well so if you were to sell them you would get a lot of your investment back.
