I got my new machine from ocuk yesterday and I am considering getting a liquid cooling system put in.

Reason being the fans make a lot of noise and this machine gives off a lot of heat and as i have the machine running almost 24/7 and sleep in the same room, i would be looking for a solution to both the heat and noise... would liquid cooling do this?

I have no experience with liquid cooling at all so any advice is appreciated :)

Water cooling won't do anything solve your heat problem if you are talking about your rooms ambient temp rising as you leave your pc on 24/7. If anything it will be very marginally worse due to the addition of an 18W pump and maybe extra fans.

Well the machine has 2 GTX 420's and I do a lot of gaming, I am just trying to work out if liquid cooling would be worth it

as said high ambient temps will render it almost the same as high end air cooling... you may be better off just investing in a air con unit, and getting water cooling at a later date

Whats the more important issue? Heat or noise? If its noise then yes WC will ba able to sort this no problem, if its heat then sry but doesnt matter what cooling system you use your PC is still going to chuck out just as much heat and warm your room up the same, you could try declocking gfx/cpu for light use, gfx is much easier to do on the fly, certainly with CCC you can have different profiles, one on full whack for gaming and one running declocked for simple desktop surfing/movies. This lighter load would result in less heat being outputted but other than that theres not much you can do

Hmm, maybe an AC unit for my room would be better idea in that case, the noise issue I can live with but not the heat.

Thanks for your input guys :)

You must have a window then if AC is an option to you. If you externaly mounted a rad next to an open window with the fans blowing to the outside then this should bring you room temps down quite a bit. Quite a few people do this though it does restrict the moveability of the pc.

There seriously isn't anything you can do about heat issues in these machines?

I am running a Intel i7 2.8 overlocked to 4GHz and 2x GTX 420's

The heat coming from the machine while running games on full spec after a while is almost as if a small heater is on in my room. I would be willing to invest in better fans or equipment to keep the heat down but if there is nothing that will work then there is no point in looking?

All the heat in my room is coming from the PC alone so the only thing I could do aside from investing in computer equip would be putting actual fans next to the machine itself?

As pointed out, unless you put the rads by the window blowing out all the heat will return in to your room and it will be just as hot. The other option would be to not leave it running 24\7. If it's mainly used as a gaming PC is there any reason to leave it on all the time?

you could always pop the window and door to your room open, and also open a window in another room so you get a nice flow of air through the room.

i have to do this otherwise i melt :D

Regardless of the type of cooling you use the heat produced by your computer, and therefore pumped into your room, will remain the same. The only affect different cooling will have is the noise level and the temperature of the components being cooled.
