Hey Guys,

I am consideirng an upgrade... I think I need it but I have a few questions.

I currently Have.

Asus P6T Deluxe OC Palm Edition Intel X58
Intel Core i7 920 2.66Ghz (
Corsair Dominator 3GB (3x1GB) DDR3 PC3-14400C9 (1866MHz) Tri-Channel
Corsair TX 650W ATX SLi Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-650TXUK)
Vertex 2 SSD 60GB
other random HDDs.

I am using a ATI HD 4870 512MB.

I currently use 32Bit so if I was to get what i was looking at (GTX 480, No idea which type they all say same specs).

Would I need to upgrade to 64Bit as 3GB + 1.5GB is over the 32Bit's memory capacity?
Would I notice a difference from 4870 to the GTX 480?
Should I get extra Ram if i need to upgrade to 64Bit, and could you recommend which type?

Is it worth going from 4870 -> GTX 480 or should I wait for something newer, or is there a better recommendation ?

Many Thanks,

Jamie

This is the important information i need to know :p

But I appreiate the input that was the one i was looking at.

Would I need to upgrade to 64Bit as 3GB + 1.5GB is over the 32Bit's memory capacity? I think upgrading to 6GB would be a good move anyway and to utilize it you'd need a 64bit OS, but no you don't need to upgrade your ram or OS for the 480.
Would I notice a difference from 4870 to the GTX 480? Yes, very much so. You're talking over double the performance: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/158?vs=176
Should I get extra Ram if i need to upgrade to 64Bit, and could you recommend which type? I'd sell your 3x1GBs and get this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-008-PA&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1389 or the HyperX equivalent, both are very good. Either that or hunt down some of the same 3x1GB sticks
