Hey all,

Let me explain the situation as I'm sure many are in the same boat.

Currently on an "iPhone35" tariff on O2. This expires in Jan 2010.
  • iPhone35
  • 18 month contract
  • £35/month
  • 600 mins, 500 SMS
  • Unlimited web and Wi-Fi to The Cloud hotspots

Now.. there is a Simplicity tariff on O2 costing a lot less which has perked my interest.
  • Simplicity
  • 1 month contract
  • £19.58/month
  • 600 mins, 1200 SMS
  • Any bolt-on you require*
*You can choose an unlimited web bolt-on (no Wi-Fi)

Now, I'm mainly concerned about the FUP on the web bolt-on. I know the iPhone tariffs have an unlimited usage (within reason) but I can't find any definitive numbers for the Simplicity. If it's the same deal: i.e. no real limits, just a FUP then I'll gladly save £15 a month :D

See any problems in the logic here? The contract costs less, has more messages and only runs for 1 month so it's easy to end.

Vodafone have a similar plan, but now your phone can be officially unlocked I'd go with that to be honest.

They do 600 minutes, unlimited texts and mobile internet for £20/month on a 30 day contract, or 900 minutes for the same price on a 12 month contract. Both have cashback available and Vodafone's 3G network is much better than O2's.

The above is most certainly what I'll be doing until the 4th generation iPhone appears.

Appreciate the reply but I'd never use 1200 messages as it is!!

Also, in the future I may want to get O2 broadband so I'll stick with O2 as it'll work out cheaper.

That's not to say that if Vodafone have a rave review I wouldn't change.. it's only a 30 day contract

Cheers all!

FUP - Fair usage policy

The normal monthly contract web bolt on has a fair usage policy of 200mb a month (based on a 'normal' users usage according to the letter I recieved from o2). Go over this once and get a text and a letter, go over it again and they'll review your current deal 'and O2 will look to move you to a more appropriate deal'.

Hmmmm my research suggests otherwise. Is that with a simplicity (online) tariff?

Yeah, I think I've discovered the cause of confusion.

Normal web bolt on (200MB)
Simplicity "unlimited" web bolt on (FUP)*

*It's only available online.

Use TopCashBack.. Quidco charge a £5 annual fee :p

Annoyingly I can't get to the 12 month simplicity section on the O2 site.. says I've selected a Sony Ericsson instead of showing me the tariffs.

Cleared cookies and still the same :o
