Considering replacing my HTPC with a Revo or similar

Hi All,

I've currently got a HTPC sat under my TV - It's running an Intel E5200 at stock, 4GB RAM on a Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2H and using the onboard HDMI out.

It's running Windows 7 x64 on a small SSD and it's used mainly for DVD / Bluray playback from the SATA bluray combo drive, Iplayer, Youtube, and some web browsing etc etc.

Now I'm looking to downsize as it's in an Antec Fusion case and the Acer Revo caught my eye. It's tiny and would happily screw to the back of the TV in the wall bracket holes.....but is it really up to the job of Bluray playback?

I've heard the ION chips are supposed to be pretty good, but I'd like to heard from anyone that owns one, or something similar, to get their opinion.

Thanks

Pete

if your tv is anything like mine the holes on the revo bracket will need modifying.

also i had issues with mine with some higher quality HD content which lead me to selling it and replacing with a HTPC.

otherwise with an external BR drive and TMT3 it was okay.

Mine plays everything I've thrown at it perfectly.
I can't vouch for BD though as I dump all my disc's to my Server and play in XBMC.

If you just want to play the files then the WDTV (and PlayOn and similar streamers) would do the job for a lot less money!

my htpc is almost identical to a revo (Asus AT3ION-T, 3gb ram etc) and it plays back any content ive thrown at it with xbmc live perfectly. Same with Media Player Home cinema on windows 7 :)
