Considering watercooling...

I currently have an Antec 1200 case which is fab for air cooling but sometimes I hate the 1,009,192 fans that are humming (not a problem during gaming, music or films, but when all is quiet...)

I must admit I don't know much about watercooling...I would fear it in case it leaked!

What decent CPU solutions are there? Somethign which performs really well?

Sorry, I don't know that much about WC!

Thanks

I installed this recently: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-034-SW&groupid=701&catid=193&subcat=1038, I had the same concerns as you (leaks, etc etc)but if you follow the instructions you can't really go wrong.

The only thing I would say in terms of quietness is that with your case (same as mine), unless you do some case modifications to enable a the dual radiator to be fitted internally, you will have extra fans on the outsideof the case that you will not be able to adjust unless you have a fan controller.

The noise does not bother me. I installed my w/c'ing for temp reductions mainly, but if you are thinking about doing it primarily for noise reduction then I would suggests investing in another case which can easily (without modifications) accept an internally mounted rad.

I fitted my rad internally into the 1200. I removed the middle and top drive bay holders and used a pair of Lian Li radiator brackets to secure the rad in place. I got some great info from TJHarlow on youtube for the antec 1200

Just google it, and have a look at guides bout it, it doesnt to pick up the ideas and what to do.
A cpu loop would really quieten the PC if you get some decent fans. Although you still need an air flow through the case.

I always recommend that people do the research themselves, then ask questions rather than just buying a kit, because then you really know more about what you are doing, not just following an instruction booklet.

if you do go ahead with your build, theres a thread somwhere on here about a 200mm antec rad specially designed for the 1200

Which is made of alu and will not do your loop any good at all!

What is the difference between following guides from the internet and following the instruction manual of a kit?

I tried researching & asking questions but I got so many different answers and opinions back that I was more confused than before I started. At least with a kit you are guaranteed to get components that match, plus a set comprehensive, unambiguous instructions.

try this is a good setup to get, just use a guide off the tinternet to put it together as said.
test it outside the case for 2hours to make sure there are no leaks and to remove bubbles from system
ps you will need two 120mm fans of your choice
