Console cable

Ive bought my self a cheap router to practise my commands on for college pratical skill based assessments and I have bought a console cable trouble is on the pictures the db9 (vga connector) is a female connector and a couple of dvi and my graphic card has a female connector doe anyone know if?

A dvi to vga convertor will work?

if there is a dvi to rj45 console cable?

or if there is a male DB9 to male DB9 adaptor

or some other solution?

I assume the router is using a serial connection for the console port. It should have nothing to do with a VGA cable or DVI etc.

You would need a serial port on your PC, you use a USB to Serial port connector.

its a cisco 2811 the console port is an rj45 so the cable I bought is and rj45 to db9

You appear to be confusing a 9 pin serial with a 15 pin VGA.

No router uses dvi to console in...

If it's a Cisco router you will want a USB to Serial & Cisco Serial Cable ...

Give us the model of the router...

google cisco serial cable, you will most likely want the light blue 1, i have a fair few of them.
