Am I the only one who finds it impossible to play any game without a mouse and keyboard? I just got a Xbox 360, the last console I had was a Dreamcast:eek:

At the moment I am finding it impossible to play games like Bioshock, Gears of War 2 or any game for that matter. Granted I have only had the console since Monday but everything feels so robotic with no fluidity. How can you even aim with any precision? It takes me 20 seconds to line up a crosshair on the target  These anaologue stick things are impossible and I can't even use the D-Pad to move around as that is configured in the games I have for other tasks.

Please tell me I will get use to it and it will eventually feel nearly half as good as a keybaord & mouse combination.

I stopped reading at this point mate, there's your explanation. I was a hardcore PC fanboy for years before i got my mitts on a PS3, it took me about 3 weeks (the amount of time it took me to complete drakes fortune) to even begin to get a grip with a control pad. I've had it for a year and a half now and feel perfectly comfortable, in fact i prefer it to a mouse and keyboard as i can just lounge about with it as opposed to sitting at a table.

I'll never be as 'good' with a pad as i was with a keyboard and mouse, but that's because of the limitation of pads, keep in mind everyone has those limitations so when you play online you're on a level playing field. They're more than capable as a game controller.

I was exactly the same when I got my 360 from going from my PC. Again it took roughly a month to get to grips with it, so just give it time.

Aye, you'll get used to it. Although in multiplayer matches like BF:1943 I scream blue murder at not having a mouse and blame the 360 pad for my woes. Whether I will aim any better when it comes out on PC, I shall let you know. :D

If your willing to give it a chance and get used to it, you'll do fine with it once you've got some practice in.

If you already hate it and know you wont ever be able to use it, just sell the console already.

i stopped using the pc for gaming (apart from the casual and emulation stuff) not long after i got my first playstation. tried playing Halo 2 PC with mouse/keys. soon gave it up.

I think the XBox 360 controller is pretty damned good and FPS developers have done very well to accomodate the analogue stick approach to gaming in this generation. I can play either way without much fuss, it just takes time. You don't always have to shove the sticks all the way left/right and most games have a sensitivity option to make thinks a little slower and more fluid.

It's still a compromise, no doubt, but you do get used to it quite quickly. Even I did and I played CSS and BF2 religously for years and I have a short temper for these things :)
