Console Exclusives

I've not been a huge fan of the PS3 exclusives overall, the likes of MGS, LBP, inFamous and Resistance don't do a great deal for me. The only ones I've taken a liking to have been the two Uncharted games and Demon's Souls, admittedly I still haven't given Valkyria Chronicles a go which looks like a game I'd enjoy.

For me the 360 has the more enjoyable exclusives.

Other than the price this is still the main difference between the consoles. Using a PS3 online seems crippled compared to the xbox.

No, it's really not.

Both platforms are good, love Gears, j'adore MGS4. But imo PS3 now has better exclusives. I only really think of Halo, Gears, Forza and PGR when I think 360 exclusives.

I couldn't care less. I own both and get the best of both worlds. As long as I get good games to play that's all I care about. I must admit I'm really looking forward to gt5 more than I am any other game on either system and the best games I've played this gen are on the ps3, mgs4 and uncharted.

All I say is forget about what is the better console and has better exclusives and just enjoy what you have! No need for console wars.

This is really really not the case, PSN is not anywhere near as bad as some seem to think. Crippled?

Well firstly the xbox was originally pushed with a lot of headsets bundled and can be had wired on the cheap, this means that most people you come across on xbox games are chatting away, whereas on the PS3 there seems to be the minority that have/use headsets.

This coupled with the party and chat features which are completely and utterly independent of any game you are playing gives an all round more complete experience.

And maybe this one is a little more personal but I find it a lot easier to find videos, games and demos via the NXE than the XMB and PSN as the xbox experience flows together it's all part of the interface unlike the XMB where PSN etc are separate apps with a totally different feel.

When you look at it the PS3 interface is laid out in a very old fashioned dvd/console way where you can choose to launch online apps and access that part where on the xbox you're basically always in the NXE.

The other thing which is nice on the xbox is the features and videos they have right there as you switch on, looking at new games and interviews with developers etc all right there to partake in.

But the thing is, all of the factors you've mentioned are what makes Live an excellent system, not thing that make the PSN 'crippled'. The PSN is more than functional, it's far from crippled, i think that's what wannabe was getting at. It's just a bog standard, functional online system up against a very robust online system.

Bought both at launch.
Im a sucker for flash graphics and audio as much as I would be for a complete gaming masterpiece. Quite often I dont get to finish games or lose interest and move on to something else. This is mainly well as im getting older and have less time to play with other commitments.

I applauded the PS3 for its Blu Ray, Pc Hardware Supported Wheels and Harddrives, Wireless Connectivity Included and 7.1 audio in games.
In general Id say yes a better system let down by a weaker controller but DUAL SHOCK helped and Sony only in the last year have been getting their act together with the system and regards online with some truly great titles showcasing "next gen" capabilities.

X360 has kept apace with the dashboard updates and a wonderful catalogue of titles. PGR3 still to this day I think was one of the best games made for the current generation regarding showcasing what "next gen" could offer. Live and achievements was cool and interesting with an interface thats simple and just works great. Again GOW for me was a technical, graphical showcase title that really impressed and yes their have been others too since but not to the same wow for me.

What I feel is X360 hasnt continued to push the envelope as much as it once was doing. Its as if the games have already peaked on the system in a graphical and technical limit.

Now this is were 2010 I believe will start to go in Sonys favour.
Why, well because Im certain we havnt seen the best yet from the system but will do in 2010.

Additionally Im quite excited in this S3D gaming aspect PS3 will offer and the new 3D controller. However I also have GT5 as my most anticipated game and why not as weve been waiting 5 bleeding damn years.
It does however look to be pushing the envelope of the PS3 and Blu Ray with its content, graphics and features. If indeed "head tracking" and "3DTV" are being supported it will be one of the most accomplished "technically" video games ever, how it plays and pleases people well thats a different story.

Heavy Rain is also maybe worth a mention and as fun aspect titles like Eye Pet, Motorstorm 2 and Wipeout HD are decent exclusives, again those 2 will get rekindled with the 3DTV features.
Sony I think will be to its normal self in 2010 with stronger exclusives and although MS will continue to offer a great system and have a much larger catalogue I see lots of X360 users being tempted to the PS3 in the coming year as perhaps it begins to outshine the X360 technically and with some very appealing exclusives in its 2010 catalogue of titles.

GT5 for top selling game in 2010?
In game Head Tracking / 3DTV / 3D Motion Controller as possible exciting highlights Sony will offer this year?

Maybe crippled was the wrong word, I think the best way I can put it is to say that the PS3 feels like a console with added online features where the xbox feels like it was designed to be online and deliver online content.

I wouldn't disagree with that statement, but then i also feel an overwhelming urge to mention online subscriptions but frankly i'm sure we're all bored of that debate. :p

At the end of the day, you get what you pay for :)

These days I've started to wonder if the Xbox actually has that many good exclusives which haven't been ported to the PC. But then again I really dislike Halo and Gears of War. My favourite Xbox exclusive is probably Banjo Kazooie - Nuts and Bolts.

I like both, if it wasn't for the fact i've got a powerful PC i would have got a 360. I went with playstation as firstly my brother had one ( i can borrow his games). Secondly most 360 games have upgraded versions on the PC.

To pick up exhashdotdots point, if the X360 exclusives didnt so easily find themselves onto the PC I would have had to buy a X360 by now, but unfortunately thats not the case. Ill always will have a capable PC so while those games are not truly platform specific Ill pick them up on the PC. I think Halo really tarnished the reputation of the Xbox console exclusive, something hailed as genre defining for console people was found to be oh-so generic it seems by PC gamers...

For that alone, for me, the PS3 has had better exclusives for a while now and the reason I got one in the first place. I am grateful I waited though as I think I got a PS3 just when PSN/XMB was getting more useful...

Forza 3 did test my mettle though...

ps3ud0

*I bet Abooie will come along with some obscure RPG's that are exclusive on 360 lol :p

Heh; well I have finished (1000/1000) Tales of Vesperia, Risen and Last Remnant this year and I've just kind of started Star Ocean :P

But in all honesty the PS3 has easily had the best year with Demon's Souls and Uncharted 2 as standouts. I keep telling myself I don't need one as I've always something to play on the 360 but these two titles alone would justify it's purchase (+Pixel Junk Eden as I absolutely love it). There's just persuading the mrs I need 2 consoles now...

Taking the PC out of the mix I think 2010 looks quite balanced though. Heavy Rain, GoW 3, MAG, GT on one side and Alan Wake, Splinter Cell, Mass Effect, Halo and Fable on the other. Obviously with Mass Effect 2 and Fable 3 I'd still side with the 360 but under no circumstances could the PS3 be accused of lacking exclusives.

The PS3 redeemed the last lousy four years with Demon's Souls alone in my humble opinion. The console went from the black sheep to being my favorite and most-played.

Although I felt 2008 wasn't bad for the PS3, I would totally agree about Demon Souls it is simply above everything else this gen and for that reason I'm interested in the likes of 3D Dot Heroes next year as they seem to be at least slightly different than the norm.

Which really is my main gripe with both consoles this generation, where all we seem to get is games designed primarily for the PC, and far far to many shooters :-/

OK, this could start a fanboy war, but it isn't meant to, but hopefully will spark some good discussion.

i bet you now follow up with a list of PS3 exclusives thats teh biz and add that 360 exclusives are not as good.

One of the biggest complaints about the PS3 was always its lack of exclusives (not something i would agree with, but there you go). Anyhoo, do people still think this stands? Does the PS3 still have a lack of exclusives? IMO the PS3 exclusives/exclusive IP's are better than the xbox 360 ones.

Right now i have restarted InFamous, and by God this game is good. Looks pretty, plays well, it is awesomeness, and should be a contender for game of the year IMO. There is also Uncharted 2 which will likely win game of the year. That is 2 original IP's for the PS3 (i know Uncharted 2 is a sequel lol)

And with Heavy Rain, GoW3, Mod Nation Racers, MAG and GT5 coming next year on the PS3, it doesn't seem like slowing down either. Which is a great thing imo, cos the more games the better :D

So do you think the PS3 has better exclusives/IP's than the xbox 360, or the other way around? Personally the only exclusives on console game the 360 has that really interests me is the L4D series, crackdown and possibly Alan Wake (but not enough info about this still).

*I bet Abooie will come along with some obscure RPG's that are exclusive on 360 lol :p

yeah, not designed to start a fanboy war...

Mass Effect, Gears of war, Fable and Alan wake are what I consider to be the best IPs on 360

.

How do you reach that conclusion with Alan Wake? Its nearly 3 years late and no one has played it.

Regarding Xbox 360 exclusives, I've had the console since launch, and I can only think of the PGR and Forza games that have made the console worthwhile owning over a PS3.
As I have a PS3 as well, that gets most of my attention, it doesnt sound like a jet engine, it doesnt try and take money from me at every available opportunity, and it has some cracking games.

Biggest waste of money ever was the Wii, It has one game worth owning for it, and that isnt an exclusive, I am of course talking about the best game ever- Resident Evil 4.
