Hi,

I've only ever really played TF2 on the PC and all of my gaming has been done on consoles. I was close to buying a next gen console but I decided to put the money towards a new PC instead.

The main specs of my PC at the moment are i5 4670k, 8GB DDR3 1600MHz, 7850 2GB.

I will be gaming at 1920x1080.

Can anyone recommend some PC exclusives from the last 2 years that are MUST plays? I am into pretty much ANY genre be it online or offline!

Thanks for your help. :)

While they isn't that amount exclusives on the PC, they is loads games that have the better version on the PC.
Games like Metro 1 and 2 are stunning
Crysis series
Latest Tomb Raider with TressFX enabled
They is loads, some games you played on the Console might be worth going back through again with the high graphics and resolution of your PC.

P.S Good luck tomorrow ;)

Thanks will till a look!

Oh and I do expect Stoke to get a kicking from the Scouse! :p

Not sure why Tomb Raider would be worth it again simply for TressFX, it's less useful than PhysX and PhysX is pretty much useless outside of Borderlands & Batman. :p

Crysis 3, Metro 2033 & LL, ARMA 3 are great looking games but you're going to really struggle with them on a 7850. Serious Sam 3, DmC and Battlefield 4 on the other hand will look great and you'll be able to chuck them up to max (bit below max for BF4) on your card.

Really disappointed you say that my card will struggle on those games. That's the only problem with PC's, you chuck lots of money at it and it still never seems to be good enough, however I'll no doubt get a better graphics card next month and move the 7850 along.

It be a tough game always is. :D

The effect is very good and really add's to the game. Tomb Raider was one of the best games of 2013 you be able to pick up now for less than £10 if you was to look around.
With him coming from Console if will be well worth checking out.

He wont struggle to run them, he can run them very easy OP just dont expect solid 60fps on max. But drop couple settings like AA the demanding ones and keep the High textures on most games dont look that much different from Medium to Ultra anyway.

Battlefield 4 Medium to ultra is very little in IQ

The 7850 is more than enough for most games pal and Crysis 3 and the like will run on them, and look better than console by a mile but if you want 30fps or more you're going to have to look at running it on medium with a few things on high. Doesn't particularly take away from the beauty though, but you're going to notice a big performance drop from say Tomb Raider then moving on to Crysis 3, but that comes with the territory with the graphics difference. Look at it this way though, PC games at 1080p are going to look a hundred times better than console games even on lowest settings.

As for ARMA 3, that's just not coded very well, your 7850 is enough grunt to run a game like it but the developers behind it aren't good enough to make it happen.

It be a tough game always is. :D

Wasn't at all worth the fps loss to me, but that might be because TressFX isn't supported on Nvidia for obvious reasons. It is worth a look though yeah, but it sounds like the prettiest version is going to be on the PS4. :(

You'll run most things @1080p up full no problems.

Crysis 3: is a must if only for the IQ, you'll get away with playing it on High-very high but without AA perhaps, depending how sensitive you are to low FPS.

Bf4: is another great looking game and for me a must! again you'll have no issues running this, other than reducing AA to 2X or off) you won't notice the jaggies really unless you're actively looking for them)

Arma 3: For me it's my fave, Brilliant visuals and great game-play if you're into Mil Sims, also there's some fantastic mods available, try JSRS 2.0 sound mod and Blastcore, all from Armaholics.

In regards to Arma 3 and it's requirements, I played it up full (ultra everything) with a AMD 6970 and my 4770K, view-distance on 3500m on foot, 6000m in the air.

In the settings make sure you disabled SSAO, it'll free up around 30-40fps perhaps with no loss to IQ at all.
that combined with AA X2 and fxaa on ultra, with give you the best IQ and the best performance.

There is one area that PC's excel in games compared too consoles;
That can include, but not limited too significantly better graphics, or multiple screen's, and potentially Super HD Gaming. :D

PC's also have a new flourishing Independent games sector (Indie) where big publishers arn't prepared to fund the project.
So the development company goes straight to the potential customers, and sell them cheaply, as in-development, or Alpha/Beta Stage software.
With no guarantee that the game will ever get finished, but you can play with the development builds, while they improve it*.
Generally this can mean there buggy. :D
Here is a brief list, of some I regularly play + support:

Kerbal Space Program. @ https://kerbalspaceprogram.com/
Orbiter. @ http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/
Planetary Annihilation. @ http://www.uberent.com/pa/
Space Engineers. @ http://www.spaceengineersgame.com/
Castle Story. @ http://castlestoryonline.com/
Beam NG Drive. @ http://www.beamng.com/content/

That's just some, and almost none of them will ever make it to consoles*
(PS4 or Xbox One.) Simply because there hardware wouldn't be capable of it, so technically PC exclusives. ;)
My personal favorites, from that list are Space Engineers + Drive + Kerbal Space Program (But I help develop, that one.) :)

What's the best arcade racer for the PC at the moment? I remember playing something called Grid on the PC a while ago which I thought was amazing, is there anything similar?

Cheers

I got a 7850 for my son and it runs everything fine so don't worry in the first instance. As above there are some games you won't max out but the difference is small. I am still running a 6950 (similar to the 7850) and until recently have felt no need to upgrade. Also remember that you won't need to change you base machine very much and can just pop graphics cards in and out as you wish. I am sure the money you save on games (assuming you wait for sales, pay no more than £3-10 each game) will more than cover the cost.

Also;
The witcher 2
Shogan total war 2

Both can be found relatively cheap. Just ask in the daily sale thread and wait for what you want to come up.

Although they're getting on a bit now the stalker games are still some of the best (the best IMO) pc exclusive games released in the past 10 years or so. Be sure to download the complete mods for them though if you do buy them to get the best graphic out of them.

Wow, just got Grid 2 on. Maxed all settings. Looks so much better than what I've been used to. Really smooth constant 60FPS and most of all... NO JAGGIES!

Think I've just had my first pc wow moment. :D

Company of Heroes 2 - Brilliant RTS with some superb graphics.
Marvel Heroes - free to play RPG from the maker of Diablo.
Guild Wars 2 - MMo with some stunning graphics and tons to do.
Rift - MMo free to play, great fun.

keep an eye on Assetto Corsa if you like your racing games.
