Hello,

Just wondering is it worth buying the new 360 slim model over the 360 elite?

Already have a ps3 slim which is very good, but everyone around here is on 360 so im gunna have to get one aswell. Just need to know if its worth getting the slim one.

Thanks.

Can you even buy the 360 elite 'new' anymore?

Pretty sure the Slim is only being sold now. I would definitely get the Slim over the Elite. Has better features including 250Gb hard drive, Wifi built-in, smaller obviously and quieter.

I don't know, im not up to date with consoles or anything like that.

Seems like the logical thing to do though i suppose. Just wanted to make sure before i buy.

Thanks

Depends on what kind of games you're interested in?

If I was buying new, I'd go for the Slim as it's just a nicer, all in one package.

Do you play online much?

Dave

If you can get the elite considerably cheaper with 3 year warranty, it might be worth going for that. Do you not want to take a chance on second hand?

So you don't want to play on it? Just get one for keeping up with the Joneses? That sort of thing?

I think he probably means it in a 'so I can play with them' sort of thing.

There's no advantages the elite has over the slim at all, save for price.

I would buy the new one. If I was getting an Xbox 360, I wouldn't get the old elite unless it was £99. Even then, if you need a Wifi adapter, it's not a very good buy all in compared to the new one.

if you are sensitive to fan noise DO NOT get an old elite, otherwise you'll not be happy. I've had a 360 since they came out and never enjoyed it until the slim came out.

Keep in mind that due to the slim being a new model, nobody has any idea on how stable it's going to be. I think that they've overheated already for a couple of people on these forums (in the official 360 slim thread or w/e it's called).
I admit they are really nice looking and have great features but just be aware that they might not be built to last. I'm personally waiting it out for at least a year before I upgrade my jasper chipset premium (60gb) model (which is solid as a rock).

oh man, its gonna have to be pretty unreliable to be more unreliable than the older model, which lets face it here, was the most unreliable console ever released X10

I also reckon Microsoft spent a bit more time testing this time.. ;)

Really  That's shocking!

I can see that you're trying to be sarcastic, I just can't pin down the specific part of my post that you're aiming your sarcasm attempt towards.
Besides, I was responding to the OP, not throwing nuts to the chimps

Alright guys

Thanks for replies. To clear it up pretty much everyone i know with a console now only has the 360, so would want it for online purposes.

Also seen something on Gadget show we some camera thing what looks pretty cool for future .

The fan noise was never that bad in any of the 360 models, just them DVD drives.

I admit I didn't use my 360 for DVDs due to the fan noise late at night when I had to have the volume down but it's a non-issue with the new 360.
