Recently i've had my new xbox 360 refuse to play a game. Can't see a single scratch on it btw.
My ex-wfie and son took another game back in to the shop we bought it from to trade in, and they refused it saying it was damaged and that you could tell by looking at the outer ring. The game plays fine, so wtf are those grungy stinking cretins talking about?!?!

Coincidentally (??) my lads PS2 has started dodging out of some games now. N4S: Carbon won't play at all (neither will my step sons, oddly enough).
Battlefield: Modern Combat will play once in a blue moon on my sons, but it plays fine on my step sons.
There's no obvious scratching that you would expect to screw the game up.
I'm just wondering if it is my son who is somehow damaging the disks with the way he inserts/ejects them in the consoles. Although i've seen him do it and he's pretty careful tbh.
The trade-in shop said that the outer ring gets damaged if the console is moved with the disk in, i know this has NOT happened on the 360, but cannot comment on the ps2.

Any thoughts please?

OMG! Thanks mate, thats interesting.....and disturbingto say the least.

Why do MS do it? Its not like they need to scrimp on decent quality parts for gods sake!
