Console owners recommend me - Display/Audio

Are you actually going to watch TV programs on the TV or just for PC and 360 ?

If not I'd get the Dell 2407wfp (or 2707 if you can up your budget). :)
I'm currently using a Dell 2405fpw (older model) and wouldn't replace it for a TV.

you need a video switch (known in IT circles as a KVM) to share the single VGA although i would think you'll use composite and VGA if your running a 32" TV yeah? Biggest problem you'll have is resolution, aim for a 1080p TV if you can afford it.

Which one is up to you. Big brands like LG and Samsung have come out with <£500 32 + 37" sets theres not much to choose between them all if your going for a good make.

1080p on a 32" is a stupid choice tbh.

1080p via component on a Samsung can often have issues - mine has a dotted horizontal line which shoots across the screen every second; it's not a major problem but it is a bit annoying. VGA looks just as good once you get used to it.

I dunno, I know i wouldnt want to lose 4 inchs, wouldnt be left with as much to work with! In terms of screen space that is.

What kind of seating distance are you planning on? would get eye strain from a huge screen.

I xbox on an hp2207 monitor and i find its perfect. i sit about 3-4 ft from screen.

Pixel count affects workspace on a PC, not physical size, so you get more vertical res on the 2707.

Yeah, a higher resolution monitor would fit more on screen. and look more crisp anyway.

i think a good size monitor is a better option for pc and xbox only.

You'd be much better off with something like the Dell 2407fpw, 1280x720 is just to low a resolution for PC use, especially at 32"!

AFAIK, there are no 1080p 32" sets available in the UK as yet?

Most 32" sets will output at something like 1360x768, my old tv did and games looked superb on it

I was used to gaming on 15" CRT @ around 1280x1024 and much prefered the bigger screen

Sorry for the semi-thread hijack but I am looking at the LG 22" Flatron M228WD for the same solution as the OP. I want something I can use my PC on nicely, play ps3/ blue-ray and watch freeview through in my home office. I don't want anything bigger than say 26" and £300 is the absolute max I am prepared to spend.

Any other solutions than the LG that I should be considering?

Jesus, £195!!! The bee-hatch won't let me spend that much.

I need something under £100 :D

The Logetch Z-5400's can be had for £140 and they are worth every penny.
Logitech have stopped making them but they can still be bought from a certain larger e-tailer.
They are not as powerful as the Z-5500's but they have the advantage of 2 x optical inputs.
I've got my Xbox 360 and PS3 hooked up to them and not only is the sound quality very good for what they are, gaming in 5:1 is a great experience.
Why on earth Logitech have ceased production of these is beyond me and even more so now that more people own two consoles with an optical output.
If you can stretch to the cost of these, you would never want to game in 2:1 again.

Oh before I forget.
If you look hard enough you can get a Samsung 32" LCD TV for under 500 quid.
A certain large computer retail chain has a price match going.
The parent group that owns them also has chain that closed all their shops and are now online only and they do the Samsung for less than 500 quid.
The shop will match the offer in store.
A colleage @ work recently did this and is very happy. :)

Now..If only that was the price when I bought two of those TV's :(

Plumped for a good old Sammy 26" and a nice Creative 2.1 setup. Happy with it all!

Thanks :)

One more question, the sound has a 3.5mm jack input. I have both my 360 and PC needing to go to it, can you buy a 3.5mm jack switch box?? Can't be bothered unplugging one to use the other.

Would be ven better if I could use both at the same time, is this possible? I have a splitter that I use with my MP3 Player so two people can listen to one song with two headphones. Will this work?

How is the screen for the PC and what res does it run at...and more importantly :)

How much :D if you don't mind me asking...

I'm not using the Sammy as the PC monitor now, I have the monitor on my fridge :)

Cost just over £400. Paid a bit more getting it from a store but I couldn't be bothered waiting to order online.
