My Fallout and GTA disks have perfect circular scratches on them, I read this has happened to a few people but seems I can't do much about it.

Is my only option to get another console?

If it's a 360 and the warranty is dead then you could just change the drive, be a lot cheaper than getting a new console.

But as said before, avoid moving the console while using it.

Is your console stood up on its end or lay down flat? I've been told that standing the console on its end leads to scratched disks.

Had mine on it's end for 2 years , not a single scratched disk although the drive did magically break eventually :eek::p

Now it's completely horizontal and I'd recommend everyone do the same.

yup, did the same. Had mine vertical for about a year. did not move it while the disc was spinning, however walked past it a few times while it was sat on a floating floor that naturally gives a bit. That was all it took and my Mass effect disc was done.

Since then it has been horizontal and has sat on a stand. I have not moved it either. I will happy chuck the PS3 in the back of the car when I go a'visiting, but not the 360. Better safe than sorry.

Your console should be fine and MS, I think, will replace the discs for a price. They did when I did-in my disc in about a year and a half ago (or when ever ME came out).
