So heres the deal im looking for a new console because my xbox is getting old and unused so i was thinking of either the XBOX 360 slim or the PS3 slim they both seem equally as good however i did some research turns out it requires a monthly/yearly fee for xbox live whereas PS3 is free.
Yet so many people have reccomended the xbox over the PS3
anyone think they can persuade me either way?

Please feel free to comment on anymore 'pros' or 'cons' anything would be much appreciated :D

do you mean you already own the first xbox or the 360?, if its the 360, what difference would it make to get the slim?

and im sorry to be blunt, but use the search function, their are hundreds of these threads.. and they all say the same thing, get whichever console your friends have (re mp)

no need to be sorry for stating the obvious and 'their are hundreds of these threads.. ' ill go and check some of them out sorry for this thread btw it was kind of a waste of time.

I prefer the xbox over the PS3 but both are great consoles with features the other one doesn't. If you like watching films ect go for the ps3, if you want pure gaming and don't mind paying to go online then get the 360.

Both are excellent consoles, however I would say, from experience, that XBL is better than PSN. Having said that I just suggest buy whatever your friends have, that's usually a safe bet.

Had a 360, my first next gen. gaming machine and I really enjoyed it.... up until I got frustrated at the PAL/NTSC issue that restricted me from getting games I wanted.

Then the Mrs unexpectedly got me a PS3 for Xmas one year and as soon as MLB The Show came out, I knew I had the console for me.

Outside of that, I enjoyed my 360 for LIVE and the fact that everyone had Mics... I mean you dont have to use it, but it was there and encouraged.... which helps you make friends, talk to current friends etc So online gaming was a lot of fun then.

For the PS3 I play a bit online, but im a lone warrior. Yes I have a mic, but rarely do people talk... if they do they are in a clan or something so have no interest in general banter... in the end its all a bit like being Renegade out of that 90s motorbike show.

Ive waffled but as others have pointed out, something small and inocuous to others ie like MLB games to me, would not be a decision maker, but it was and it won out over a better online experience and a lot of money invested in a 360 console (wifi adaptor, VGA adaptor, HDMI cable, play and charge, LIVE account just renewed for 12 months, multiple pads etc etc)
