Console Voice Chat

Since getting ps3, I've been noticing that a lot of people use voice chat...I rarely hear any voice chat on pc unless I'm playing counter strike. Its odd.

People even talk in racing games and stuff, why you would talk in a racing game I have no idea.

Does anyone find this strange?

I also think that most people who have a pc have a mic of some sort, be it a headset, desktop or webcam mic. Yet you never hear people talking.

But on console its rare you play a online game where there isn't someone mumbling stuff you can vaguely make out or someone ****ging someone off or being a troll/jackass.

Is it because pc gamers are antisocial or something? Is that what it is?

Please help me understand.

In my experience playing PC games for years most players use external voice software (like Teamspeak) so they can keep their chat separate from other players.

Well, on Xbox you get party chat and on pc you get skype or teamspeak.

So on both of these you can keep your voice completely independent of the game. Just when it comes to PS3, you only get voice game chat,
or group text chat(which is a bag o' ****). Unless there has been an update...

So people on PS3 who have headsets feel the need to talk bull to random people rather than talking to people they know in groups.

At least on PS3, it just seems to be French people spamming all the time or people who don't set it up properly, so it's just a crackling mess. I have a headset, so just turn it on, mute it and put it down. Don't have to bother muting individuals (if possible) that way.

I'm usually in Xbox Live party chat so I don't really hear anyone.
The times I have heard people it has been someone ranting in another language or some tool playing music really loud in the background.

Same here, I got everybody on mute through my settings.
Those ones with headsets that sounds like they're under water gets on my nerves and the ones who must put their headset by their telly and you can hear the game sound a through it.
