Hey guys, for the past week I've been having some real issues with my rig. It continuously crashes to a black screen, sometimes the PC will last for 10 mins sometimes hours. However the only time I have managed to get it to last a long time whilst the gfx card is actually running (i.e. not in the idle mode it does) is if I manually set the fan speed to 70+%. I've tried absolutely everything I think of and everything I've searched for on the web has left the issue unresolved. Memtest, running each stick on its own, cleaning with compressed air, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers and each and every time the issue remains. I am almost sure its my graphics card but I don't know exactly what is wrong, the card is about 2 years old now, never been OC'ed never had any problems.

Thanks very much

how much cpu imc voltage are you using? i forget what its called on asus x58

might be dram imc voltage not sure

even at stock you might need more, esp if the graphic card is pushing the cpu/memory

try with qpi/dram core voltage set to 1.315v

dont worry thats still within intel safe limit,i used to have that board and ran with that much qpi

could try it at 1.35v,if it still crashes set back to 1.2v

and try by testing gpu memory frequency downclocked by 150 or 200mhz,if it still does it could be graphic card fault/issue

best test in games really, not a fan of furmark as it buts waay too much stress on a gpu

qpi/dram core voltage,no need to touch cpu v

qpi/dram core voltage is for the integrated memory controller inside the cpu

Okay I set it to 1.35 and it crashed same as before. With Catalyst Control Centre the only thing I can move down is High Performance GPU clock setting. The other one, High Performance memory clock i cant actually move the bar down any lower it is already at its minimum.

it could be the graphic card memory thats causing the crashes,im not 100% sure but youve tried everything else and 1.35v qpi should be plenty to keep stable

only last resorts i can think of is a full clean install of windows if you have spare hdd lying around or borrow another gpu to test with

i had a 5870 that would do the exact same thing, soon as i lowered mem freq by 100mhz it was fine

So i tried running crysis and it was black screening on the menu haha, it seems as soon as it starts coming out of the idle state for too long it crashes. How do i lower the Card memory? CCC wont let me do it for some reason.

try sapphire trixx

and lower the memory clock

So I downloaded TRIXX and underclocked the memory but it seems to be causing terrible screen tearing so I have stopped it for now. Even when i underclocked by around 100 it still crashed in Crysis, but did get a little further and loaded but did not boot into the actual playable game.
