I had my pc overclocked before but now its all at stock and I still get BSODs. Playing WoW I get crashes saying "Memory could not me read/written at this address".

So I tested the RAM in memtest for 1.5hours and it passed 2 cycles, not sure if I should test longer.

Orthos fails on blend and large FFTs within 30mins but small FFTs is fine so its not the CPU.

I have tried swapping to another set of RAM that I know works fine but I still get the same errors.

The other RAM slots on my motherboard also don't seem to work, putting RAM in the yellow slots the pc doesn't even POST and just keeps beeping. Same thing happens when I try booting with 1 stick of RAM.

Do you think it is actually my motherboard that is faulty?

Anyway heres my specs:

Opteron 165
2gb Mushkin DDR400 / 1GB Geil Value DDR400
DFI Lanparty nf4 Ultra-D
Windows Vista x64 (clean installed from XP 2 days ago)

Thanks.

It does sound like the board has gone but I would certainly try the following luckily Nforce boards are cheap though huh
Double check the ram settings are as they should be in the bios especially the ratio
get and run antivir its free http://www.free-av.com/ could well be a virus i had a while ago that caused bsods Or it could simply be that the gpu driver is corrupted suggest a reformat if all else fails it is possible that the windows install can get corrupted whilst overclocking as it sounds like your ram is okay.

I've put everything back to stock atm, just so I can cross out overclocking as the reasons for the crashes.

Will try with the anti-virus now. Reformatted only 2 days ago when I had the problems in XP. Really doing my head in, might be an excuse to go Intel..hehe

Thanks for the advice.

Ok so no viruses...

I was reading up online and I think my memory controller might be dodgy. This is built on the CPU for Opterons right? So in fact my CPU is borked?
