not sure if this is the processor or the hard drive, or what the hell it is, but its really getting on my nerves... i think it must be the hdd, as when its making the noise.. the cpu usage can be anywhere between 1% and 20% .. so im thinking it could be the hdd.. the noise even keeps goign when im doing nothing on the pc, and then stops after about 5 mins

specs are in my signature..

Ive uploaded a little clip of the clicking noise, sorry for the fans but you can just hear the clicking over them :) (yes its very loud.. the recording is from outside the case)

also, any ideas why my cpu feels slower than my old 3.06ghz p4 ??

ive taken a ss in cpuz.. so anyone can check everything looks right..

and heres that sound clip:

Thanks a lot

Disconnect the hard drive, obviously you won't have windows load, but does the clicking go away?

ok your right, the clicking went away..

is my hdd faulty??? or are they generally loud like that nowadays?

Only bought it like 2 weeks ago, it works perfectly.. just the clicking gets on my nerves.. i just did a scandisk and theres no errors etc.. also enabled that SMART stuff in bios but still no change...any ideas?

thx

Sounds faulty to me, my drives don't sound like that, and one is a 6 month old Raptor.

I wouldnt put up with it, its clearly not right.

Hardware failer is high during the first few weeks. I've always said if your hardware survives the first 2 weeks, it will probably last for years.
