Constant drop outs

Ok, I'm not the most clued up when it comes to networks so apologies for being dumb, but in the past all I've ever had to do is plug things in straight out of the box and they've worked.

Situation is pretty simple, we have a Virgin Media router on the ground floor which I connect to via home plugs in the loft, at least 4 or 5 times per internet browsing session I will get random drop outs, the strange thing is that once I'm online gaming I've never once had a single drop out, this only happens whilst web browsing.

I get a little caution symbol show up on the internet access icon in taskbar, then I go to internet access and sharing and get this:

The quickest way I've found to reconnect is go into adapter settings, disable ethernet adapter, wait 10 seconds then re-enable and all is well.

I'm wondering why it's showing unidentified network on that screen and whether it's a security thing or set up problem, when we had this new router from Virgin I just plugged in my homeplug and carried on like before, should I have set something up?

Cheers in advance.
