Constant F1 Prompt when Booting

I have recently just built a new computer, I moved away from Windows 4 years ago because I just couldn't be doing with PC's anymore. Now I have finally got back in the game, built one, and I'm constantly getting the prompt to Press F1 to Continue or Press DEL to enter set up when booting.

I have tried changing the Boot Order, I have tried resetting CMOS & BIOS and still keep getting this prompt when I boot up.

I am using an XFX 780i Motherboard.

Anyone got any advice?

Does the time need re-setting when this happens and is it all the time.

Wondering if the battery requires replacement.

Thanks for the reply RJC, the time doesn't need resetting every time this happens. Still reads todays date and time fine even after loading defaults. I am really at a loss as to what the hell is causing it.

Can u list the specs of the pc plz, i had this with my second pc and as the bios had reset the ram voltage was too low and this was the cause.

Specs:

Processor: Intel Xeon X3330
Motherboard XFX GeForce 780i
GPU: XFX GeForce GTX285 Black Edition

Now the only thing I don't know is the RAM. It was a bundle deal on eBay. Maybe that is why.

U will have to open it up and get the part No. off one of the ram sticks and then we can check whatr voltage it should be running at.

Well see how it goes then but imo the fault is still there but it;s just ignoring it, like i said in my case it was too low voltage on the ram but it could possibly be something else.

F1 to continue usually means that no cpu fan is connected, this can happen on certain boards were a 3 pin fan is plugged into the 4 pin pwm cpu header, therefore the bios doesnt detect the fan as the pwm readout wire is missing.

My CPU fan is definitely connected, working fine as well.

The No Errors thing seemed to work fine, not sure if it is masking a problem, could just be something stupidly simple. This will be my last ever build though, what a headache lol.

Thank goodness for my MacBook Pro haha!

Ive had the F1 error on several asus boards, only when using 3 pin fans on the cpu header, the fan was working grand, it's just that it wasnt detected properly on boot, i know that asus removed control for 3 pin fans on the cpu header on recent boards. Cant say if my old evga 680i board was like this, as i only ever used 4 pin pwm fans on the cpu header.
