Constant hard drive activity :(

I installed Avast an hour ago, started a scan and then it proceeded to totally freeze at around 90%. I gave it some time and eventually had to try and abort the scan, that failed, so I restarted the laptop.

As soon as it turned back on, I got constant hard drive activity. I guessed it was continuing what it was doing, and then decided to uninstall Avast.

Removed it, restarted, turn the laptop back on and I'm still getting it. I've downloaded ProcessMon and it seems to be Monitor.exe, WerCon.exe and isgfxsrvc.exe (or something like that) doing literally all the accessing / registry accessing.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Yeah vista still does file indexing too, you can disable file indexing by right clicking the HDD going to properties an clicking disable file indexing on this drive.

By default the Indexing only does a few select folders - so there should be no constant disk access once everything is indexed. I have my whole HDD indexed and have little to no HDD activity.
