Somewhere, in a field in cheshire... alright!
Hello,

Since the windows 10 April update, every time I open Windows Media Player it causes non stop activity (70-80%) on the HDD where my music is stored. It is on a partition, not on C: drive.

It isn't updating the library. I have restored the library. Backup isn't in use. Windows isn't indexing.

This is the first time I've had this problem but I've read others have had similar problems.

Anyone encountered this and found a solution? I don't really want to use another Media player.

Thanks very much.

What is the drive and rest of the system?

With the latest update there have been serious issues identified with systems with some Intel SSDs and a variety of Toshiba systems have some variations of storage problems including impacting on battery life and random high utilisation, etc.

EDIT: Also one of the recent updates has problems with the thumbnail cache especially in relation to media usage which in some cases is causing significant disc utilisation.
