Hey
Turned these on today and noticed there was a hissing and a crackling coming from the speakers, (even when they were not plugged into a sound source)
After a little playing about plugging and unplugging this seems to have disapeared, but ive been left with a very low humming noise from one of them.

Sound coming from the PC is fine, just a very annoying background hum when there is no sound been played

If i plug headphones into the speaker the problem is not there, as soon as i unplug them its back! =(
Speakers are 2.5years old so outside warranty.

Do these sound knackered? If so any recomendations as to what would be good to replace them with?

Could be the way your cables are arranged. You can taking the speakers out completely and just connecting them a wall socket somewhere else. Wiggling the cables may also make it better or worse. If you must have power cables going over audio cables make sure they cross at a 90 degree angle which will reduce crosstalk to a minimum.

Thanks for the advice
But unfortunatley i think they or not well

Even plugging into a differant socket, and without plugging the USB lead or lin in connection they make a noise like there is interferenance

So I guess its a case of some new ones, its a shame as i liked these!

Is the Z10 powered via a seperate power brick or its power supply is built in to the unit?
If the Z10 is powered via a seperate power brick then you can try a different power supply as the humming can be caused by faulty caps in the power supply (check polarity of the psu that it matches the original).
According to some info I could find on the net, it looks like it is powered by a 12volts psu.

Thanks for taking the time to look into things for me
Unfortunatley the PSU is built into the speaker and without dismantling it dont really have an option to try another =(
