Constant rebooting loop at random

Merry Christmas :rolleyes:

Since I built the system, I have noticed that (rarely maybe 1 in 50 start ups) it would switch off after pressing the power button and then boot correctly. It would state in the bios that the system settings have been reset and a boot failure has occured possibly as a result of overclocking settings. It's worth noting that the system is not overclocked and today I used the PC without any trouble at all like most times. I shut the PC off for around 10minutes and fired it back up to which the system just constantly rebooted around 20times before I held in the power button. I reset the CMOS and fired the system up again and it switched itself off again within 2 seconds but then ran ok.

What would you recommend I check/replace? What areas would cause the system to act like this? I am typing from this very system now and as long as it boots into windows, it never reboot on its own or crashs :(

System is;
Gigabyte Z68AP-D3
intel i5 2500K 3.3ghz
Radeon 6870 gfx card
OCZ Solid state hdd
500gig sata hdd
4gig Kingston Hyper ddr3
530w pure power be quiet! PSU

Many thanks for any replies,
Gaz

id check that PSU, i would also test the ram.

basically the way i fault find, is take out all the extra bits not needed, ie GFX card, HDD's, Ram (i only use one stick when fault finding) then i just add them back in one by one.

Just an update for anyone else running the Gigabyte Z68. After much reading and trying to restart the computer, it seems my boot loop is caused by using the restart button OR the restart in windows instead of shut down. Touch wood, it's been ok so far rebooting without using the restart.
