Constant tone on boot up

Hiya

Need some advice, just building my system atm, did the first boot up and i have not a single bleep from the speaker but a constant tone!

I have abit ip35pro, 8800gtx, 4 gig geil ram, q6600

Any clues what this is?

hmm sounds like it's coming from the gfx card actually

Ever heard of that?

You sure. I did read somewhere that the GTX can beep if it's not happy, though how true that is I'm unsure.

Have you connected the power correctly for the card

Power supply or plug into GFX card.

Have you got the cable in?

Edit - what wattage PSU you rocking?

GTX needs both 6 pins connected afaik

Yeah it needs both and getting sufficient power from them else it screams like a banshee.

got it, needed both 6 pins connected! heh, didn't see that!

Still the problems keep going

now the POST code is showing 25, and i can't enter the bios or anything! Was trying to setup vista.
Man i wish i was an expert with these things, the last build went soo smoothly

try different ram sockets and also using only 1

i'm using a 620 corsair, and i have 4 sticks of 1gig ram

It's odd that i could get into the bios when i first booted the machine, only when i put the vista disk in and restarted it did it then freeze at post code 25. I didnt make any adjustements to the bios though, so would there be any benefit in clearing the cmos or it this just the wrong time to do that?

garr, it's not post 25 it's 52!! 'Test all memory' I'm guessing remove some ram n see what happens?

Yep. Google memtest86 and run that once you get it to POST.

Well this is all a bit odd, i cleared the cmos and it seems to be doing it's thing, will see how it goes i guess.......

Well this is starting to do head right in

Some right wierd stuff going on with vista starting for the first time, seems to be lasting forever then the screen just goes blank with no HDD or CD action at all

i'll have a go at testing the memory in a sec, just need to get the internet up n running on it first. I adjust the voltage in the bios yes? i think it's set at 1.8v which looks a tad low tbh. think it should be 2.1
