Consumer routers that can handle thousands of connections?

I would guess there is a relationship between CPU speed and the max connections judging by that chart.

There is plenty of reasonable priced small business stuff that trying to use consumer kit for this is pointless.

Even if its quick enough, how's long until it falls over and needs rebooting.

Ran a quick test on a draytek I had lying around and it managed 31900 connections before winsock errored out?

I dunno if it actually accomplishes anything but with custom firmware the Asus routers allow you to increase the max tracked connections from 30K to 300K - no idea how many connections they can actually handle though.

Thrown a Draytek 2830 in with an Openreach modem and it seems a lot more responsive now, the product page actually advertises up to 50,000 NAT sessions.
