Contacts not syncing - Gmail

Hi guys,

As above, if I add a contact in gmail that appears to sync with my phone but if I creat a new contact on my phone that doesn't sync? I think its only recently started to happen

I've got a z1 compact, 4.3.

When you click new contact on the phone there should be the option to select "google contact" or "phone contact". Phone contacts are only stored locally.

What does yours say?
