So Continental, a couple of years ago, released some contisilent tyres with foam inside which is said to reduce road noise dramatically. So far they have only been available on Tesla's and Audi RS6/7.

Why on earth aren't they producing these in more sizes? Surely this would take off? I'd be one of the first at the door as, even with my Eagle F1s, the road noise in my car can be unbearable on anything but the smoothest of tarmac...

Also, why aren't other tyre manufacturers trying to come up with new innovations to help eliminate interior tyre roar?

No. No it wouldn't work and that would be a very, very silly thing to do.

Imagine the stuff coming loose inside your tyre at 70mph

Would that even work?

Would need to be fitted very well to be correct weight distribution

I've got no idea if it would actually work in terms of road noise, but weight distribution wouldn't really be an issue.

You've got a strip of matting the same thickness all round as long as you didn't decide to leave a massive gap then it's going to be basically the same all the way round and then that's what balancing is for.

Plenty of tyres that are quiet enough for normal cars. I had F1AS2s on the Saab, which is a quiet car overall but there was some tyre noise - just had RS3s fitted and they're noticeably quieter. I'd go as far as to say I cant hear them over wind and engine noise.

The complexity and cost are not needed for 99% of the cars on the road
