Ok so a few people at work are not getting the hours that they are contracted for through no fault of there own. They will only get paid what they work but when the company is refusing to give them the hours they are contracted to when they are trying to live is bit unfair.

So my question, what are the laws regarding this sort of issue. Can the company give them 20 hours a week and only pay them 20 when they are contracted to 30?

If it was me I would rather work less than my contracted hours, then see the company I would work for go bankrupt then have no job at all.

Cant comment on the law but this seems well out of order to me. Otherwise you'd never have to put anyone on gardening leave or anything, you'd just say "we're giving you zero hours a month" or something.

Adsactly, the question is, what sort of company is it?
Manufacturing?
Do they have the orders in the books to give everyone a 30hr week?
