My contract with Virgin Media has ended some time ago and now as I'm reading on about plusnet. I'm thinking of changing the ISP, currently my bill is £29.75 for 60mb without tv, land-line etc. just the internet...

I was thinking of getting the plusnet 80/20 unlimited package, just the internet as I don't need other services. But are the other companies which aren't mainstream and offer better service? I'm only looking for internet package without land line, tv or other unnecessary crap.

With Plusnet (or any DSL ISP), you will need to have a landline.

Virgin Media is the only residential ISP that allows you broadband without a phone line.

You should be getting 100Mb soon (if not now), as all 60Mb get upgraded for free.

Than I will stay with VM, but what about hyperoptic?

First question is, can you even get Hyperoptic?

If yes, then your post is a stupid question! :p

I didn't check, couldn't be bothered to fill out the form to just check the availability...

Why ask then if you can't be bothered to check availability? You're the only one who knows where you live so you can check if it's available.

The time it took to write your original post you could've looked.. Geez talk about helping yourself out.. :p

VM aren't actually a bad provider. Mine is very stable and I get awesome speeds (160 on the 152 speed).

My VM package is actually cheaper if I bundle on LL and TV as you get a package discount so that may be worth looking into?

You won't get a DSL line such as FTTC without a phone line, nature of the beast is unfortunately you have to have a live phone line to have the DSL provided onto. Still though plusnet fibre isn't too bad even then IIRC it works out about £35ish.

I'd check to see if you can get hyperoptic but if not weigh up if you need to change, VM isn't too bad for the money unless you are unhappy with it.
