Contract rules - advice please

Hi - first time poster so sorry is this has been asked in the past!

I’m tied into a contract until Sept 21 but am after the new iPhone 11. Have been quoted £500 to upgrade plus a crazy fee for monthly contract after.

Is it possible to buy the phone private, then use the sim I am using on my contract phone on the new phone? Would that impact the existing contract at all?

I can’t see an issue as I would still be paying the old phone off - just using the sim in a different phone.

Absolutely

It's also sometimes the cheaper way to buy phones in the future. Buy the phone outright and then get a Sim only contract for ~£10 a month.

You can work out whats cheaper by calculating the cost of each deal.

Contract = £45 x 24 months = £1080 in total

Buy phone + Sim Only = £10 x 24 months = £240 + £750 phone = £990

Sometimes you'll find better offers one way, and other times you'll find better offers the other
