Contractors

Depends how super serious you want it to be.

Onward is kind of like Arma 3. Slow paced, methodical and unforgiving.
Contractors is a little more fun and fast paced, although not as nuts as Pavlov.

Saying that, I haven't played either for a while and there was a big update for Contractors the other day.

Thanks for your thoughts. The Oculus quest version of contractors came out yesterday so I suspect that's the reason for the OP asking about it.

I think onward possibly looks a bit too serious for my liking. Personally my current favourite VR shooter is Firewall: Zero hour on Playstation VR. Don't know if you've played that and are able to compare it to either onward or contractors?

I tried population one but it felt to arcadey for my liking and I hated the fact you could aim without having to look down the sights.

It's still the most well rounded polished VR military fps.

The maps are of the build quality of Alex, weapon and player models more polished than the other two popular online games. They added mod support earlier in the year, along with cross play oculus quest users. Most of the user maps are straight conversions of call of duty, with a few halo thrown in. A link to the selection you can subscribe to, they download in game if you join a server running the map anyway though. https://contractors.mod.io/

They average 50 connected users a day on steam alone, peeking double that and growing, but obviously far more in oculus/quest users. There's a greater balance of ability now, it suffered from hardcore player stomp which kept numbers down throwing fuel to it's detractors.

Yesterdays update added multiplayer co-op:

Version 0.80.0 features include:
1. Introducing Co-op (4 players co-op) and offline missions! You can experience a total of 8 missions with 4 different objectives available at launch!

2. Brand new character models.

3. New map: HQ will be available as both Hub area and multiplayer map.

4. Brand new soundtracks to pump-up the atmosphere.

5. Brand new UI design.

6. New weapons: Desert Eagle and MP5.

7. Enhanced player hand animation and player IK.

8. Enhanced Visual and Lighting.

9. Enhanced online and offline Bot with more dynamic behaviour.

They still continue to support the game, and rightly so they created the premier game in the genre.

I haven't played F:ZH, but from what you've said, I think Contractors is the one for you out of the available options.

Co op is a really good addition, spent all night playing with the lads last night.

Would have been nice to see a few more maps for the quest release but hey go, looking forward to mod support. Loved playing all the cod maps on the pc version.

Can you reduce the FOV when moving in Contractors to make it a bit easier for folk sensitive to motion sickness. I can last a decent while in Saints and Sinners for example, but when I boot up Contractors, I don't manage more than a few minutes in the tutorial area before I need to stop. I spent ages digging around in the options and couldn't find anything obvious.

It sounds like you are trying to push through the sickness and keep playing. You have to stop doing that or you will never get over motion sickness. I was terrible at the start and tried to do the same thing, push through and try to play on, even though I would have to stop after just a few minutes because I was unable to play.

Then I started to follow the guides that said, Stop playing the moment you start to feel sick. The second you start to notice that nauseous coming on, you have to stop playing. And not just stop playing what was making you sick, stop playing in VR. Take off the headset and leave it off for 30 minutes or for as long as it takes for the ill feeling to go away.

When you do this you will find yourself staying longer and longer in VR before you get queasy. Until eventually it almost completely goes away.

This method works. But, how many days/weeks it takes depends on the individual. It took me almost two weeks.

Been playing on amd off since its 1st PCVR launch, easily my favourite VR multiplayer shooter.

Not play this or many VR games for awhile though coz my Rift (CV1) is dying
