Contracts ending - which Network now?

Probably a question that is impossible to answer! I'd due to get two Samsung Galaxy S3's soon, as our aging HTC Desire's are coming to the end of their two year Orange contracts.

I've been pretty happy with Orange, having been a customer in various guises since their early days. What's confused things a bit now is the 'Merger' of Orange and T-Mobile into Everything Everywhere.

I suppose my key question is, does it now really matter if you go for Orange or T-Mobile? The networks are now shared, so is the differentiator now pricing and customer service? You can get the S3 for free for £26.00 a month from Mobiles.co.uk, wheras Oranges tariffs aren't as competitive.

Also how does the Three 2g network share with Orange work now - do Three roam onto T-Mobile as well?

I've not had good experiences with Vodafone or O2, so have not considered them really, but I'm willing to be persueded...

Any opinions would be very welcome!

Well, got one phone sorted. Called Orange upgrades today, and got the following:

800 minutes, unlimited text, unlimited data, 3Gb BT Openzone wifi for the same £30.00/month we've been paying (Panther 30). Phone cost 50 quid. Maybe not the best deal in the world, but my daughter gets to keep her number!

I expect the phone will have some Orange branded software, but it's not the end of the world. Anyone got a branded S3 from Orange? To what extent is it branded?

The problem with Orange, they are very slow (usually) at offering you the latest handsets, often months behind others and they have some of the slowest data speeds known to man :(

I've just moved from Orange to Three after a 2 year period with them like yourself.

I'd been with Three previously (2006-2007) and vowed never to return as it was shocking.

Things have definitely changed. On the move performance for data is awesome, and bar in my house (lawl?) the signal is great. However, my Orange handset was the same, as is my wife's handset also on Orange.

The One Plan is seriously impressive with three. Get that, get lol Cashback through Quidco, and use your PAC code to transfer your number.

Simples.

The phone we upgraded to was a white Samsung Galaxy S3, so at least in this case Orange have the latest phone. I've been with Orange for 15 years and never had an issue getting the latest phone, but your mileage may vary here I guess. I think I'm happy to stick with Orange as Everything Everywhere seem to have some big plans over the period of this contract. The upgrade plan I have actually compares well to the Three One plan - for me - I'm not going to use anywhere near 800 minutes, and everything else is unlimited for £30.00/month...

I'm typing this in West Wales on holiday, using a laptop connected over an HTC desire-powered hotspot, connected to Orange-T-Mobile. There is no other network available here if I do a search - horses for courses!

Anyone got an Orange branded S3? Are Orange shipping branded S3's at all at the moment?

I've been with them a little longer than that and honestly, I don't once remember them having the latest phone when I had an upgrade (well, definitely since Android began and I took a bigger interest in phones, so I guess that's probably only a couple of upgrades)

My last upgrade was to a DHD that finally became available 2 months after other networks.

Just make sure you don't go with Three. Without a doubt the worst **** pot company i've ever had the misfortune of dealing with.

im with 3 and find them reasonable, think once my contract is up I might just get a giffgaff sim.

Thats if i can avoid the temptation of the s3!!
