Ive just built a new pc for my Dad. He lives 200+ miles away and has liimited pc using capabilities.

Is there a way i can control his pc from my own pc?

Any help much appreciated.

vnc is best for this, so you can show him what you're doing (both users see the same screen)

you could use remote desktop, but for the local user, it just shows the logon screen and they can't see what you're doing.

you're going to need his ip..

www.whatismyip.org , and maybe port forwarding if he has a router (this needs to be done on his side) www.portforward.com

www.logmein.com

completly free and perfect

Another thumbs up for Logmein.
Has the advantage that it only requires software to be installed on the machine you want to control, and you access it through their website.
This means that you could be at your home pc, work pc or friends pc, and you can access it without having to install any additional software.

You can do this with VNC too, as long as the machine you're using has java enabled.

Pretty much the same as RDP then.
