Hey cheers for looking.

I recently got myself an Ipod and with that I'm using Itunes to add music.
I have a few questions that I cannot find answer to on their site:

If the Ipod is 80GB and the data folder (music) is more than 80GB can you control which files are added to the Ipod and which are not?
i.e I want to add about 50GB worth of songs, but not all of the songs that are in the Itunes database, is that possible?

When ripping songs from CD, is there a way to control the file structure as Itunes rips the CD?
i.e instead of Itunes just lumping the album into it's database, is there a way to force it to use a convention like: Kaiser Chiefs - Employment?

Thanks for any help.
Cheers.

In your music library, theres a tick box to the left of each song. Depending if that is checked or not should determine what songs are put on your iPod. Else, get the iPod plugin for winamp and by-pass iTunes altogether. :)

In iTunes. Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> General -> Tick the box that says "Keep iTunes folder organized".

You can also change the 'iTunes music folder location' so that you can have your 'My Music' folder double up as your iTunes folder. This way, when you rip from CD, it will put the files in 'My Music' and arrange them by artist and album. :)

Disable sync, if you connect it up to a blank ipod I believe it'll wipe everything on your computer.
No it wont. Its thie other way round. If you connect yoru iPod up to a blank iTunes library then it would would your iPod. I agree though, its best to have sync disabled.

Actually going to give that Winamp plugin a whirl.... The basic plugin comes as standard to Winamp and the enhanced version gives just a little more control :).

Thanks!

Sorry for jumping in here.

I put songs on my girlfriends and my moms ipod, using itunes. But cant for the life of me figure out how to delete a song off the ipod :o

I also have sync disabled.

I enable sync and take the tick out of the song (on iTunes itself) that you want to delete from the iPod.

It works for me ;)
