I've got an HTPC that I want to control from my laptop (and phone if possible via another piece of software).

Windows Remote Desktop Connection works well... but I can't control it via my laptop AND view the HTPC on my TV at the same time as it logs the user out locally. This is what I want to do.

If there's also another app whereby I can control it via my phone (ie see the desktop on my Android) then that would be useful but not essential.

Thanks!

Another vote for VNC, although I tend to use Ultra as opposed to Tight.

I've also used TeamViewer to connect to my dad's machine in the past and that seemed OK too.

you can setup a number of allowed sessions for remote desktop connection

then you can control them both at the same time.

not to sure if theres a app though.

I use the above patch on my htpc for doing background tasks, works just as expected!
else VNC is good if you need to interact wth the desktop.
