I like to listen to my music when playing some of my games. However, some of the tracks in my music collection a lower volume than others or some are quite a bit louder

So, for example, ill be driving along in burnout paradise and a song will come on that i can barely hear or one that is way too loud, i have to minimise my game and turn the volume up/down in windows media player or change the sfx volume level in game.

Is there any way i can set up a little script or something and map it to a button so that i can adjust the volume easily without interrupting my gameplay? Or any other ideas?

yeah i have an ms keyboard and the vol control is global.

Nice tip on foobar, i think i have that installed anyways but didnt know about the volume hotkeys. Might have to start using it more, cheers mate.

f11/f12 didnt work in foobar, had a quick look in prefs to see if i could set the hotkeys but i couldnt see anything, will play around with it later.

As for ReplayGain, that sounds good and would save me a lot of hassle. Any decent rg enabled players you can recommend?

i saw mediamonkey supported it too, used that before and kind of liked it so might give that a try. Only thing i liked about wmp was it sat in my taskbar rather nicely and then track names popped up when i used my keyboard media controls

ok well right now im am loving winamp. Ive always assumed i wont like it (not sure why) but its great, i love the little osd that pops up when it changes track and its just so easy to navigate to the music you want.

works perfectly in game too.

wikipedia says its replaygain supported. Is it automatic or do i have to set this up at all?

Correction, the play/pause, skip, stop etc hotkeys work fine (might be because they are actualy multimedia controls on my keyboard.

But the vol control aint working in game. I've tried setting it to a few different key combos and none of them seem to work.
