Hi all,

I currently use Fractal Design Define R5 as a case, and my current fan setup is:

1x FD Fan at rear
1x FD Fan at Front

(These were already fitted in this case when I bought it, and I haven't touched them)

2x CPU Fans (2x Fans around a massive heatsink - Noctua)
1x GTX 1080TI (Fans only turns on when it is in use)

---

While I am not Gaming, all the fans are running apart from the GPU.

I have the case next to my legs, and it gets really hot when I am Gaming (like within the first 10 mins, it becomes uncomfortably warm :p)

Firstly... Are all the fans required to be on, while the computer is not in use? The case ensures pretty good sound proofing, but if I can turn the front and rear fans off while I am not Gaming, it should be even quieter. How would I go doing that? (I.e Having the fans turn on and off when required).

Secondly... Is there anyway to stop it getting so hot next to my legs when Gaming? I wonder if I'm just going to need to move it from underneath the desk to on the desk...

Any advice is greatly appreciated :D

Thanks,
Marky

Depend on your motherboard and what options you have in the bios.

Some older hardware works well with speedfan but the newer stuff would need to be done via bios or getting something like argus monitor.

Download and install AI Suite from your motherboards support page and use FanXpert 3 to detrect and tune your fans. You can create a custom profile if the standard ones don't fit your needs. You can either leave FanXpert to do it's stuff or make a note of each fan setting once you are happy with them and enter them into BIOS which will mean you can uninstall AI suite.
