Am I doing something wrong? I keep lowering the TDP in afterburner to reduce the power usage of multiple GPUs on different systems and they don't stick to it. I have a 1080ti set to 75% TDP and when I apply the setting it drops but if I come back an hour or so later then it's back up to 100%.

Same for some 1070s in another system, in fact changing the TDP on one of the cards doesn't even alter anything, it simply does what it wants

It will do if its still trying to push as hard as it can to reach a certain overclock via GPU Boost 3.0. This will mean going over its set TDP if it is able too.

The only way really to lower the power usage is to down clock it.
