(Disclaimer: This post may be really length in size, so for that I do apologise, but I just wanted to explain this the best I could, so then you guys could help me decide in full what would be more suitable for my needs!).
So first off, I'd like to give you a little bit of insight as to what is going on here.
A while back I made a post about my problems deciding whether to buy:
a.) New computer parts that would make my computer an absolute monster!
or
b.) Buy a Mac product either the iMac 21.5 or the MBP 13"
This was a good few months ago now and the time is drawing closer for me to get my student loan, now here's the predicament that I am facing as of right now, on one hand, I would love a Mac, I love their interface, I love the operating system, I love the way everything is on a mac and so on! but then what about my gaming? I'm an avid gamer you see, I play a lot of xbox but PC is my primary source of gaming these days with WoW, LoL, D3, etc, etc being on the PC!
Below are my current specs and then below that are what I would be upgrading too.
Current specs:
Intel Core i5-750 @ 3Ghz,
8GB DDR3,
AMD 5770,
2TB HDD,
Corsair a70 Cooler,
Antec 300 case.
Upgrading too:
(I was also going to add in the i5-2500k & Asrock Z68 Extreme4 but I'm trying to cut corners, money wise).
YOUR BASKET
1 x Gainward GeForce GTX 570 Goes Like Hell 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with StreetFighter 4 PC Game £219.98
1 x Corsair Obsidian 650D Gaming Midi Tower - Black £145.99
1 x Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Elite Mechanical Gaming Keyboard £119.99
1 x Crucial RealSSD M4 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (CT128M4SSD2) £119.99
1 x Corsair Vengeance 1300 Professional Gaming Headset £54.98
1 x Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9) £39.95
1 x Asus PCE-N15 300Mbps 802.11B/G/N Wireless PCI-E Network Adapter £29.99
Total : £745.87 (includes shipping : £12.50).

I would like to get a full PC overhaul but the thing is my motherboard is still of a decent quality, my CPU is still okay, so if I don't have to upgrade them until a later date, that would be great. All in all the parts here are quite fantastic.
On the other hand, I want a Mac, now, if I did go ahead and buy a Mac it would be used soley for educational purposes for the most part, (I'm a web developer/programmer).
I'm going into my 3rd year of University in September and over the summer it is time to start our 3rd year project/research, we have two options:
i. Create a project of our own choosing (I chose to create an iOS device based application using xcode & apple dev program), I chose this because I have a friend who has already done this and he would give me a helping hand in the books department, which direction to go etc.
ii. A 5000 - 8000 dissertation on whatever we would like in our given field. (I.T)
Now, I need a Mac for the xCode program and so on, but at this point in time, I'm stuck in a rut because I would rather get the computer parts, maybe I'm being a little bit shortsighted and focusing more on my games when I should be more focused on my project.
The Mac's I was looking at, are the following:
1. 13" Macbook Pro
2.4GHz,
4GB DDR3,
500GB HDD,
Intel HD 3000 etc.
£999
around £850 with student discount.
2. 21.5" iMac
2.7GHz,
4GB DDR3,
1TB HDD
AMD 6770m,
£1249
around £1049 with student discount.
I'm not sure with what option I should be going for really, as there is a lot of good options at my disposal here.
Thought/opinions are great and highly appreciated, if anyone here has or is in the same predicament as I (whether in uni/work etc) then I'd appreciate any kind of feedback.
