I'm not sure where I should go here and hoping for some advice off all you more knowledgeable people.

My current build is:

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z77-D3H
Ram: 24GB (2x8GB PC3-14200 Kingston, 2x4GB PC3-12800H Crucial)
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 TI 6GB
HDD: Plextor PX-128M5Pro SSD, 2x4 TB Western digital Black HDD
Case: Fractual Design R5

My spare machine is:

CPU: Intel Core i7 980 3.33Ghz (Gulftown) Socket 1366
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD7
Ram: 8GB (2x4GB PC3-12800 Geil)
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 7850 2GB
HDD: 1TB Western Digital Black
Case: Some Random Generic

Spares:

Motherboard: Gigabyte X58A-GD65
CPU: Intel Core i7 980 3.33Ghz (Gulftown) Socket 1366

The question is, using what I have, Do I have the optimum build for both my main and my spare? Would it be worth swapping anything around? Yes the i7 have more cores but I feel the motherboards let the pairing down.

I mainly use it for video editing (Premier Pro), Music composition (fruity loops). I occasionally play the odd game (Fallout 4, Star Citizen) and this is normally at 1080. Other than that I use it as my media machine for streaming my movies in my home cinema system, although it is also used as a server for my family to do the same (Emby).

So pretty much a jack of all. haha

Your welcome , your first pc looks good you could do an overclock on your cpu if you fancy it. What cooler you got ?

Second pc is back up so not to bad.

The CPU is running on a variable clock I believe, so powers up to 3.8 when needed. I've not bothered with overclocking as I'm running a stock cooler.

Maybe a larger ssd and a cooler for your cpu as long as your pc does what u need then look at peripherals like speakers, monitor, sound card, etc.

Yeah, an upgraded ssd is on the card along with an improved cooler. Just when funds allow.

The pc is wired up to a £3000 Dolby Atmos system and to be fair, the onboard sound performs outstandingly. I dont need production quality soundcards. This is then run through a Sony bravia and a Hanns-G monitor. The monitor could do with being upgraded too but works for the time being.

Well, it seems that I'm not doing too bad then. Still managing to keep up with the flow of components whilst juggling work and children.

Many Thanks Mate.
