MPEG2 is what you want for DVDs. Make sure you set it to PAL (and PAL I if you get the option) if you are using a UK DVD player.

I find Nero digital the best tool for this.

Convertxtodvd is the program I use, drag the AVi file into window hit 'convert and then click burn and bongo, watch it on your dvd player!!

Never had an issue with it

If your Dvd player will play DivX then just burn your Avi as a data file with Nero otherwise, convert with WinAvi for ease of use and speed.

When you do this though doesnt it make the file size larger so you can get less files per CD than if you were to just copy the files directly onto CD? (i.e playing music on a CD player as opposed to just having mp3/wma files on CD and running them via a PC?

google up DVD santa, its fast, free and easy.

All of the above, apart from it aint free, but its so simple to use, and also doesnt just support AVI formats such as (Divx/Xvid), also the windows formats and MPEG formats as well. A very powerful peice of software...

its free.

Download Free Trial Version (v4.00) Now
(No time limits, No Feature limits, Fully functional, Will show "Demo Version" text on the output video.)

DVD Santa click Add Media, select your file, change the bullet points to PAL - Full Screen - Medium Quality, hit Create DVD and off it goes, when its finished it will ask you if you wanna burn, say aye, once done stick it in your player and watch, simple. :D

I am guessing 9 out of 10 people still wont Demo text on there DVD ouput files, hence why I say it aint free as such... it just gives you the starter for 10 as to why they want money for a very good peice of software.... still gets my vote though.... and I tried a lot of software for turning Digital Media into DVD....

Santa really is good... :D

350MB eh? perfect size for Lost etc.. lol ;)

I use WinAVI also.

Hey, its probably just some 43min home movie about local church architechture he's made or something.

I use AVI2DVD which does the job and you can set up batch conversion for when you have several home movies of local church architechture to convert overnight. However this Convertxtodvd sounds interesting, may have a look at that.
