I've been given an HP Proliant ML110 generation 5 server (tower case) with a Xeon cpu in and would like to just use it as a PC. I've only ever built your standard pc so know nowt about this.

I am assuming that if I install Windows Vista home premium on a new drive together with any drivers that I can find, it will run just like a normal pc; is that possible? or will it be a pain to convert?

Any help from you clever guys would be appreciated.

Yeah, ML110 (see edit) .... no idea about raid; only one HDD in it but giving that back as it has data on it that he may want. thought I'd get another and try to install Windows Vista.

It has 3gig of DDR2 800 ECC RAM which I may well increase to 8gig if all goes well.

Just a bit worried that I won't find drivers as the ones on the HP site are for Win Server 2003 or will they do the job? (shows how much I know).

Give the Vista a shot, may have a lot of the drivers itself, remember if you want to upgrade to 8gb RAM you need 64 bit Vista.

Thanks for the advice; will have a go over the weekend if I can find a spare SATA drive ... looks like all my spares are ide.
