Convert AVI with Subtitles in OS X

As title want a program that can Convert AVI and Subtitles in OS X so I can burn it on to a DVD.

Does iDVD convert with subs?
Is there a mac equivalent of convertx to DVD, a really simple converting program easily utilised with subtitles?
