Quick question guys, I'm going to have to get rid of my windows xp for reasons you can probably guess lol. But about 6 months ago I was given a copy of Fedora core 4. All I really do is chat on msn xfire and play cs on the pc also listen to a lot of music. What are the Alternative programs I can use with Linux for listening and burning music and what about msn surely you cannot use msn on Linux?

What about the burning and ripping of music and instalation of cs cause really If I can do it i'll give it a try this morning

I installed Core4 now got a even bigger question how can I change the resolution from 800x600 its really bothering me

Burning and ripping Cds is no problem at all, all distros have both these functions built in.

My recommendation would be to use Ubuntu.

Gaming can be a problem but there is plenty of info available for getting games to work under Linux as posted above. You could also look into Cedega by Transgaming for better games support but all it does is help with DIrect X support etc. under Wine. 3D support for some cards can be a problem with Linux, especially ATI, but with a little bit of fiddlin' it can be resolved.

However, I seriously recommend that for gaming why don't you use a dual boot system where you have a Linux install for everything usual and them a very stripped down (no auto updates ;) ) Windows just for CS.

Well tbh I might have to go back to windows cause linux seems to be really complicated :D for my needs really I can hardly install anything that I need on this and the resolution is bothering me too much.

I found out how to do the resolution now makes me feel stupid for not looking around properly lol, Well all I need to find is how to install my nvidia software drivers for this I wouldn't mind using it if I could do all the stuff I can on windows. I'd try the other core of linux but I havn't really got the time today.
